It may be cold outside, but why not look at how you can support your skin from the inside out this summer by eating foods that will offer protection.
Carotenoids are potent antioxidants that can protect your skin from light damage. They are mainly found in brightly coloured fruit and vegetables with yellow, orange and red pigments like carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, squash, peppers, peaches and apricots. Adding fat to your meal helps with the absorption of carotenoids. For a meal bursting with carotenoids try baked red peppers stuffed with a mixture of cherry tomatoes, brown rice, basil and olive oil. Always keep in mind that UV rays can slow down any progress made and reverse improvements in some conditions. That is why covering the area is a good idea. Perrins blend is normally used to treat specific lesions or spots and the best results are often seen when the area being treated is in constant contact with the blend 24 hours a day. This doesn’t always make it easy when you are out and about, so that’s where Creme complete comes in. It is easy to use and easily absorbed into the skin, with no need for any dressings. However, if your condition is widespread, you may also want to consider wearing light clothing to prevent your skin being exposed to the rays. For any of you who have tried the Perrin’s blend, you will know how effective it can be. As Perrin’s have already discovered the benefit of including honey in their blends, I thought I would share this article with you.
‘Researchers at Cardiff Metropolitan University have found that manuka honey is effective in combating the bacteria Streptococcus Pyogenes, which can make wounds hard to treat. This condition has worsened because of resistance to antibiotics; however, it seems that the manuka honey can actually penetrate that resistance and kill the bacteria, even in small concentrations. Other benefits include no instances of honey-resistant bacteria, plus honey is more cost-effective than antibiotics and may also complement antibiotic treatment. If you want to use manuka honey for wound care, it is recommended that you use a medical grade product that has been treated to kill any bacteria on it’. Source: Maddocks S et al. ‘Manuka Honey inhibits the development of Streptococcus pyogenes biofilms and causes reduced expression of two fibronectin binding proteins.’ Microbiology, March 2012 Vol 158. Cannot believe the service, only ordered around 11:10 am yesterday and its just been delivered. Thank you.

Perrin Naturals® have recognized for years that if their creams were applied (Creme Complete, Ultra Nurture, Lotion Rejuvenation) before and during sun exposure, they avoided severe sunburns, and many times avoided burning all together, even though most of them are fair skinned and prone to sunburns. This was exemplified further when they could recognise where on their skin they had applied the products and where they hadn't, by burning and peeling where the creams had not been applied. Even knowing those creams lessened burning from sun exposure; they were never promoted as sunscreens. Because Perrins have been consistently asked by customers to develop a natural sunscreen, they have developed one by using their creams as a starting point. Look in the store All Natural Sunscreen
All Natural Sunscreen combines natural, restorative, and protective ingredients together with the natural sun blocking power of zinc oxide, to help your skin respond better to sun exposure. The antioxidants and vitamins included are designed to help correct any existing sun damage as well as to prevent further damage. Recommended for anyone with solar keratosis or sun damaged skin (wrinkles, brown spots, rough skin and pigmentation changes) or for normal sun protection on your holidays. It should be applied evenly to areas of the body which are exposed to the sun and reapplied throughout the day, especially if getting in and out of the water. For those with solar keratosis, consideration should be given to using such a product all year round to offer protection also from the winter sun and strong winds. Look in the store All Natural Sunscreen NUTRA CREAM now added to stock at your request. While this is Perrin’s mildest cream it still contains a variety of vitamins and antioxidants. Where symptoms associated with Lichen sclerosus are particularly severe or sensitive, some customers choose to start with the Nutra cream and apply it between 2 and 6 times daily. It is a good skin conditioner and it may help calm things down and provide a protective layer, before moving on to a stronger cream such as crème complete. Nutra cream has corrective properties in its own right, but most customers go on to incorporate the crème complete or a combination of the crème complete and Perrin’s blend.
