Perrin Naturals® have recognized for years that if their creams were applied (Creme Complete, Ultra Nurture, Lotion Rejuvenation) before and during sun exposure, they avoided severe sunburns, and many times avoided burning all together, even though most of them are fair skinned and prone to sunburns. This was exemplified further when they could recognise where on their skin they had applied the products and where they hadn't, by burning and peeling where the creams had not been applied. Even knowing those creams lessened burning from sun exposure; they were never promoted as sunscreens. All Natural Sunscreen combines natural, restorative, and protective ingredients together with the natural sun blocking power of zinc oxide, to help your skin respond better to sun exposure. The antioxidants and vitamins included are designed to help correct any existing sun damage as well as to prevent further damage. Recommended for anyone with solar keratosis or sun damaged skin (wrinkles, brown spots, rough skin and pigmentation changes) or for normal sun protection on your holidays. It should be applied evenly to areas of the body which are exposed to the sun and reapplied throughout the day, especially if getting in and out of the water. For those with solar keratosis, consideration should be given to using such a product all year round to offer protection also from the winter sun and strong winds. Look in the store All Natural Sunscreen NUTRA CREAM now added to stock at your request. While this is Perrin’s mildest cream it still contains a variety of vitamins and antioxidants. Where symptoms associated with Lichen sclerosus are particularly severe or sensitive, some customers choose to start with the Nutra cream and apply it between 2 and 6 times daily. It is a good skin conditioner and it may help calm things down and provide a protective layer, before moving on to a stronger cream such as crème complete. Nutra cream has corrective properties in its own right, but most customers go on to incorporate the crème complete or a combination of the crème complete and Perrin’s blend.
Continuing our thoughts from the end of last year, I am sure you have all heard of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. It is commonly used as a thickener and foaming agent in shampoos and toothpastes, but did you know it is also used as a wetting agent in garage floor cleaners, in engine degreasers and auto cleaning products. It has been shown to be a skin irritant and it is thought it could have a degenerative effect on the cell membrane due to its protein denaturing properties. It can also maintain residual levels in major organs of the body from skin contact. Carcinogen nitrates can form in the manufacturing of SLS, or by its combination with other nitrogen bearing ingredients within a formulation. Sodium Laureth sulphate (SLES) is the alcohol form. It has higher foaming qualities and is slightly less irritating, but may cause more drying. Check your bathroom toiletries and consider swapping to organic products without any harsh chemicals or toxins.
